Traineeship details

The learner would be taught correct bathing/drying procedures and be expected to eventually complete these tasks unaided with certain dogs. They would be taught how to correctly handle/restrain each individual animal. They will learn all the different types of equipment used and how to use them safely. The learner will be able to use some equipment whilst being supervised.

Customer care is very important, we will teach the leaner how to use our computer system so they can help with the upkeep of our client records. They may also get to assist us with our social media accounts. The learner will also get a chance to improve their service skills by contacting clients.

The learner would learn all aspects of working in a salon, including general hygiene and cleaning practices.

Training to be provided

During the 14 week Traineeship programme your days and hours of attendance will be gradually increased depending on your individual needs.

  • Week 1 (4 hours) – College induction to prepare for placement starting in week 2.
  • Week 2 (up to 14 hours including one day work experience)
  • Week 3 –5 – Up to 21 hours including two day’s work experience.
  • Week 6-13- up to 21 hours including three day’s work experience.

After successful completion of the Traineeship programme, you will receive a certificate of completion and a reference as a minimum to support you with your future Apprenticeship or job applications.  There may be opportunities with your placement provider subject to paid vacancies being available.
