Summary
You will be working with and learning from a multi-skilled chef team with experience over many cuisines. The kitchen operation covers an a-la-carte restaurant, bar menu that serves lunch & dinner. Afternoon tea, private dining, events conferences and banqueting. A fantastic opportunity to learn and develop within this multi-faceted operation.

Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
As an apprentice chef you will assist in preparing food in a timely manner, helping guests to have memorable experiences whenever and wherever they dine. You will take pride in your work and always follow the specifications set by the Head Chef and Sous Chefs to ensure all food is prepared, presented and served to a high standard and in keeping with specifications.
- To ensure that your section is ran efficiently, whilst ensuring that you maintain a high standard of cleanliness throughout the kitchen operation.
- To ensure all fridges, freezers and all food storage is stock rotated.
- To follow the specs set out by the Head Chef to ensure consistency in what you do every day.
- To ensure that you are correctly dressed and adhere to high personal hygiene standards.
- To abide by all Company and legal Food Safety Standards.

- Your day release will be delivered at the Shrewsbury Colleges Group, London Rd Campus on a Wednesday on one day a week, with the remainder in the workplace.
- You will be working towards the Level 2 Commis Chef apprenticeship standard, including Functional Skills in English and maths if required.

After this apprenticeship
- Following fully completing the apprenticeship, the apprentice chef would be offered a role as commis chef for a further three months, with the expectation to be promoted to Chef De Partie thereafter.
