Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
- Food preparation
- Cooking on the line alongside the senior chef
- Keeping up with general kitchen cleanliness
We will also be offering additional pathways of knowledge. This includes ordering, par levels, understanding profits/losses, creating and costing new dishes.

Your training plan
The apprentice will be working towards the Commis Chef apprenticeship. After successful completion of this will gain the Level 2 Commis Chef qualification. There will be the opportunity to study maths and English alongside if this is required.
More training information
The college learning will be based at our South Downs Campus in our training kitchens one day per week including 4 hours of practical and 2 hours theory.
