This is an exciting opportunity to work for Cameron Balloons where you will use a variety of hand tools and machines to make hot-air balloon baskets for flying passengers, sport, advertising, marketing and even for breaking world records and competitions! Mondays to Fridays. 8.30am to 10.30am (15minutes paid break) 10.45am to 12.30pm (1hour lunch unpaid). then 1.30pm to 3.15pm (15minutes paid break) 3.30pm to 4.30pm.

What you will do in your working day
Job Description and Main Duties:
- Marking out and cutting leather
- Sewing leather and other fabrics
- Hand stitching leather using cord
- Hole punching leather inserting eyelets
- Construction of the basket floor - pattern making, cutting wood, shaping to fit basket
- Use of jig saw, band saw, sander
- Varnishing/oiling wood
- Fitting of internal pads
- Cutting of foam
- Sewing pole covers, inserting zips, making straps, etc.
- Use of hand and machine tools
- Working inside of the basket to fit internal elements.
- Lifting, carrying of heavy fabric and parts
- Going off site to help with balloon inflations
The training you will be getting
A variety of in-house incremental hands-on, practical training with a dedicated supervisor mentor.
All college training will take place within the workplace with a dedicated Assessor visiting on a regular basis to carry out reviews, observations and set coursework targets.
You will work towards the L2 Leather Craftsperson Standard.
You will have an e-portfolio for submitting your work and you must log your off the job training on a daily basis.
