Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

At Step Recruitment, you will help promote opportunities, support candidates and universities, and create engaging digital content for student, employer and university audiences.

You do not need previous recruitment or SEO experience. We will provide training in our systems, SEO techniques and role-specific software. We are looking for someone organised, curious and creative, with a genuine interest in marketing and content creation. Experience using Canva, social media, websites or other creative tools would be a bonus, but it is not essential.

This is a hands-on apprenticeship where you can build strong business administration skills while developing valuable digital marketing experience. The Director and Management Team will set the overall marketing direction and plan. As you gain experience, you will be encouraged to suggest content ideas, identify opportunities and contribute to how Step communicates with its audiences.

Working across Step's recruitment and projects teams, you will provide accurate administrative support while helping coordinate and deliver the agreed SEO and social media plan. Your responsibilities will grow as your skills and confidence develop. You will receive clear direction, regular support and training

• Support recruitment campaigns by advertising vacancies, updating job boards and university channels, and keeping records accurate and up to date

• Help manage candidate and university enquiries, prepare CVs and shortlists, distribute documents and support recruitment follow-up activities

• Maintain the applicant management system and HubSpot CRM, complete data checks and produce simple updates or reports

• Create and schedule approved social media content for Step's student, university and employer audiences

• Produce engaging graphics and content using tools such as Canva, following Step's brand and approval processes

• Update website pages and blog content, including vacancy and featured opportunity information

• Carry out practical on-page SEO tasks, such as keyword research, page titles, meta descriptions, headings and content updates, after training

• Monitor agreed website and social media measures, record results and contribute ideas for improvement

• Support careers fairs, workshops, surveys and other recruitment or marketing projects when required

• Handle candidate and business information carefully, following data protection, confidentiality and company procedures

• Organise your workload, meet deadlines, communicate progress and ask for guidance when needed

• Share suitable ideas and suggestions, with increasing opportunity to contribute to marketing plans as your experience grows
