Summary

I am looking to hire a Fire and Security Apprentice for VPS Group near the Nottingham area. Must have a driving licence.

Wage

£16,640 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • To install a range of integrated systems ensuring that the installation complies with customer specification, health, and safety regulations. All works to be completed on time and to client’s requirements
  • To undertake service and fault finding and the maintenance of security products (i.e., Dahua & Ajax) on existing security systems remote monitored CCTV and intruder movement detection to health and safety guidelines and legislation
  • To communicate with customers in a professional and courteous manner, ensuring that any issues/matters of concerns raised are dealt with effectively and efficiently
  • To effectively liaise with all appropriate colleagues to ensure a co-ordinated, efficient, and timely installation, meeting customer requirements
  • To communicate with the General Manager and Operations team, RVRC Operators and RVRC Technical to maximise volume of service and maintenance visits undertaken on a daily and weekly basis, ensuring works are undertaken to required standards and guidelines
  • To work closely with the Technical Service team to maximise ‘first fix’ opportunities on service and maintenance activities. Including remote self-diagnostic intervention
  • To ensure that van and unit stock is managed and replenished, ensuring that all used stock is allocated against ‘jobs’ undertaken.
  • To ensure that faulty and un-used stock is returned to the unit in a timely fashion
  • To ensure that mutually agreed job-related targets are consistently achieved on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis, communicating with the General Manager and Operations team in the event there is a problem with the achievement of the targets
  • All work as directed by the Operations team and the General Manager
  • To communicate effectively both verbally and in writing at all levels across the business both externally and internally to customer and staff
  • Create a favourable and professional image in respect of Davis Site Security to customers, colleagues and the public in general always
  • Report all near misses and accidents to the General Manager

What you'll learn

Course contents
  • Comply with safety legislation, codes of practice, risk assessments, method statements, safe systems of work and apply control measures.
  • Complete functionality tests of systems and components during commissioning systems.
  • Apply and implement system design, planning and installations including additional components to existing systems.
  • Carry out takeover procedure, diagnose and repair faults.
  • Operate ICT equipment and systems to store, retrieve, manipulate, transmit or receive digital data and electronic information.
  • Comply with environmental and sustainability, regulations and standards.
  • Complete functionality tests of systems and components during handover of systems.
  • Carries out risk assessments.
  • Communicate with others verbally for example, internal and external customers, colleagues, and managers using sector specific terminology.
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, as part of a team. Consult and engage with occupants or others who are or could be affected by work (for example vulnerable, older, and disabled people) and respond appropriately.
  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders using sector specific terminology through written means.
  • Plan and install systems cabling.
  • Carry out maintenance activities on fire detection and alarm systems and their components.
  • Carry out maintenance activities on intrusion alarm, access control, video surveillance (CCTV) and their components.

Training schedule

Work or college based training (typically day release or block training).

More training information

  • Workings in and around the Midlands on most days, looking after temporary CCTV and wireless systems
  • You will be predominantly working with clients based within the Construction and Building industry, and a CSCS/ ECS card is preferred but not essential
  • You will be installing and maintaining Fixed Systems and Pods
  • You will be screened to BS7858 with a DBS check
  • Working Monday to Friday (paid overtime if required to work at weekends which happens a very limited number of times per year)
  • Average of 40 hours per week

  • Can build / maintain relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Able to communicate well within the team.

  • Use of Microsoft Office and Outlook.
