Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

You will support the day-to-day running of our warehouse, helping to receive deliveries, organise stock and prepare customer orders. Working alongside experienced colleagues, you will learn about our products and the importance of accuracy, teamwork and good customer service.

Daily responsibilities:

Your duties will develop as you gain experience and complete your training.

They will include:

  • Receiving deliveries and checking goods against delivery notes.
  • Checking incoming goods for damage, shortages or incorrect items and reporting any issues.
  • Putting stock away in the correct locations and keeping storage areas organised.
  • Picking customer orders accurately, checking product codes and quantities.
  • Packing and labelling orders securely, ready for collection or dispatch.
  • Helping prepare delivery paperwork and courier labels.
  • Supporting the loading and unloading of deliveries, following safe working procedures.
  • Carrying out stock counts and reporting stock discrepancies.
  • Updating stock records using our warehouse or computer systems.
  • Learning to identify our range of cables, electrical accessories and all related products.
  • Assisting with measuring, cutting and preparing products to customer requirements, once trained.
  • Keeping the warehouse clean, tidy and safe, including keeping walkways clear.
  • Following health and safety procedures and using the required protective equipment.
  • Working with colleagues to prioritise orders and meet dispatch deadlines.
  • Reporting damaged equipment, hazards or other concerns promptly.
  • Using warehouse equipment only when trained and authorise.
  • Completing apprenticeship coursework, attending training and taking part in progress reviews.

  • support under instruction scheduled and unscheduled stock taking activities relevant to the organisation and product.
  • Identify and escalate problems beyond own responsibility.
  • Follow procedures in line with environmental and sustainability regulations, standards, and guidance. Segregate resources for reuse, recycling and disposal.

Training schedule

  • This apprenticeship will be delivered remotely in the workplace.  The apprentice will be given a minimum of 6 hours per week as off the job training
  • Maths & English Functional skills will be delivered within the college setting (if appliable)

Desirable qualifications

GCSE in:

Maths and English (grade A-C or 4-9 or equivalent)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.

    We will support you in developing your product knowledge, taking on greater responsibility and exploring further training relevant to your role.
