Summary

We're seeking to appoint a dedicated member of staff to join the SEND team. You will be organised, proactive, and passionate about supporting students and their families.  At JMHS, it is our ambition that students with SEND achieve as well as other students and we believe that the best support for students occurs in the classroom.

Wage

£17,250 a year

Pro rata so actual wage will be £11,802.28

Monday to Friday, 8:45am- 3:15pm (including 30-minute unpaid lunch break). Term time only, plus 5 INSET days.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

Your job duties will include:

  • Work with class teachers to raise the learning and attainment of pupils
  • Support students in the classroom, or school HUB, and assist with delivery of curriculum
  • Assist with group activities within and away from the classroom
  • Assist with the assessment of children’s progress
  • Assist with meeting medical, personal social and behavioural needs
  • Follow the relevant procedures for ensuring that information and data is collected and recorded

  • Apply methods of formative assessment.
  • Use up to date technology safely, to support learning.
  • Encourage safe use of technology by learners.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to support all learners (for example, scaffolding, open questioning).
  • Identify and respond to pastoral and academic behaviours in learners.
  • Provide feedback to learners.

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 4)
  • Maths (grade 4)
