Summary

To support their continued growth EVM UK is looking for a motivated Apprentice Data Technician to join their Marketing department at their Southwater, West Sussex office. This is a hands-on apprenticeship where you will earn while you learn, working with data across the business and studying for your Level 3 Data Technician Apprenticeship.

Wage

£16,640 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

Further Information: Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): The National Minimum Wage for Apprentices is £8.00 per hour (As of the 1st April 2026). This is the legal minimum pay per hour applying to 16- to 18-year-old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship. For apprentices 19 or over who have completed their first year and are continuing their apprenticeship, the National Minimum Wage appropriate to their ages applies.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

What you will gain:

  • Working with data from across the business including sales, aftersales and parts. Sourcing, organising, analysing and presenting it so company teams make better, faster decisions
  • Full training will be provided alongside your Level 3 Data Technician apprenticeship so no previous experience in data or the minibus and coach sector will be needed to apply

Key Responsibilities:

Will include, but not be limited to, the following:

Sourcing & Managing Data

  • Sourcing data securely from trusted internal and external sources, including our CRM system (Odoo), sales, aftersales and industry datasets
  • Collating and formatting data so it is ready for processing, review and further analysis by colleagues
  • Blending data from different sources and formats to explore how it supports our business needs
  • Storing, managing and sharing data securely, in line with company procedures and GDPR requirements

Analysing & Presenting Data

  • Analysing structured and unstructured data using basic statistical methods to support business outcomes
  • Validating your results through cross-checking and other techniques to spot faults and ensure data quality
  • Presenting data clearly for review and analysis using tables, charts, graphs and dashboards

Communication & Development

  • Communicating results verbally, through reports and technical documentation, tailoring the message to your audience
  • Collaborating with colleagues, customers and partners at all levels to create real value from data
  • Taking ownership of your own development and keeping up to date with new tools, technologies and techniques

Who you will be:

  • Someone who is curious with good attention to detail, a logical mindset and a genuine interest in numbers and technology.
  • Someone confident using Microsoft Excel and Office; experience with Power BI and other data tools is an advantage but not essential
  • Someone who is a logical thinker with strong problem-solving skills and excellent attention to detail
  • Someone who is a clear communicator and comfortable working with people at all levels
  • Someone with the right to working in the Uk who is not in full-time education
  • Someone committed to completing the Level 3 Data Technician apprenticeship, including off-the-job training

What you'll learn

  • Select and migrate data from already identified sources.
  • Format and save datasets.
  • Summarise, analyse and explain gathered data.
  • Combine data sets from multiple sources and present in format appropriate to the task.
  • Use tools and/or apply basic statistical methods to identify trends and patterns in data.
  • Identify faults and cleanse data to improve data quality, for example identifying gaps, duplicate entries, outliers and unusual variances, including cross-checking across data elements or between data sources.
  • Audit data results for maintenance of data quality, reviewing a data set once all sources are combined, to ensure accuracy, completeness, consistency and traceability from original data.
  • Demonstrate the different ways of communicating meaning from data in line with audience requirements.
  • Produce clear and consistent documentation of the data provided to others and of actions completed. Where appropriate or mandated by the working context, this documentation should use standard organisational templates.
  • Store, manage and distribute data in compliance with organisational, national, sector specific standards and or legislation.
  • Considers sustainability and ways to reduce impact. For example, using cloud storage, sharing links to files, avoid storing multiple versions of files, and reducing the use of physical handouts of documentation.
  • Parse data against standard formats, and test and assess confidence in the data and its integrity.
  • Operate collaboratively in a working context that accounts for, and takes advantage of, the roles, skills and activities of others, especially those interacting with the same data sets or working towards a common goal.
  • Prioritise own activities within the context of the duties to be performed, taking account of any known or expected impact on others.
  • Follows equity, diversity and inclusion policies in the organisation for a common goal.

Training schedule

An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. Off-the-job training will follow the time allocations outlined in the Occupational Standard.

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 4)
  • Maths (grade 4)

Other requirements

Things you need to know:

  • This is a 24-month apprenticeship and applicants must be committed to completing the course
  • This is an office-based role at EVM’s Southwater offices with one day per week studying at Chichester College Campus
  • Applicants must be able to travel to the employer office and the college campus either using their own car or by public transport
  • Nearest rail station to Southwater is Horsham about 25-minute walk and bus route
  • All applicants must have lived in the UK for a minimum of 3 years and have the right to work in the UK
  • All applicants must live in the local catchment West Sussex area and be able to travel between the office and the college
  • All applicants MUST have already completed and achieved their GCSE Math and English minimum grade 4 to be eligible to apply and be free from full-time education
  • The package for this role includes a starting salary in line with the Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage and offers long term progression opportunities
