As part of our Industry team, you will test and fault diagnosis on deliverable Systems and sub-assemblies to component level; Survey, repair and upgrade customer equipment. Provide technical support to Project/Engineering Teams and contribute to the development and evaluation of innovative approaches/solutions to ongoing issues or problems.

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
- Test and diagnose complex faults on deliverable customer systems and sub-assemblies
- Co-ordinate all activities with regards to the testing of the Systems to ensure delivery dates are met to agreed quality and costs
- Responsible for the presentation of Systems for customer acceptance
- Directly represent Thales with respect to the provision and support of Customer Systems, both on and off-site, including Setting to Work and all Trials and Customer Acceptance tasks
- Provide Test Methods and solutions and generate procedures to enable System and LRU test and support
- Supply technical information to Operation Management and Project Teams to enable appropriate decisions to be made
- Inform Test Management and Engineering of any requirements for Test Equipment and define those requirements

- Communicate in writing, for example technical reports, documents and presentations.

Programme structure:
Throughout the four-year programme, you will combine university study with practical workplace experience, developing both academic knowledge and professional engineering skills.
- Lectures and workshops are delivered through a series of 2-week blocks spaced throughout your degree apprenticeship
- Alongside campus taught lecturers, you will have access to digital resources and discipline experts to support your studies

You will study towards a Level 6 Electrical and Electronic Engineering Degree Apprenticeship with Exeter University.
In your first year you will be given a broad theoretical and practical knowledge across all core engineering disciplines, before progressing onto increasingly advanced topics later in the course.
Years one and two provide core fundamental knowledge of engineering principles, as well as applying mathematics to engineering problems. Years three and four are spent applying your knowledge to engineering problems.
You will complete a Technical Report and Presentation in the final year: an opportunity to apply your knowledge and skills to devise an engineering solution at a professional level in an area of engineering study that aligns to your role at Thales.
By the end of the programme you will have achieved a BEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering as well as a Level 6 Electrical and Electronic Engineering Degree Apprenticeship.
