Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
On a typical day, the apprentice will:
- Greet customers in a friendly and professional manner, helping them with questions about our products and services.
- Work in the kitchen to prepare our food before displaying it on the shelves
- Support the preparation, presentation and replenishment of fresh food counters, including salad bars, hot food counters and orange juice machines.
- Maintain excellent hygiene, cleanliness and food safety standards throughout the working day.
- Make sure displays are well presented, fully stocked and attractive to customers.
- Learn how to follow company procedures, including opening and closing tasks, stock rotation and basic record keeping.
- Assist with checking product quality, dates and availability to ensure customers receive the best possible experience.
- Work as part of a team to keep the counter running smoothly during busy trading periods.
- Develop confidence in communicating with customers, colleagues and managers.
- Learn how the business operates, including sales, standards, stock control and customer service performance.
- Take part in training and development to build the skills needed to progress within the company.
