What you'll do at work

As an HR & Resourcing Apprentice, you will:

  • Monitor and manage recruitment and onboarding inboxes, responding to candidate and stakeholder queries professionally and escalating issues where appropriate.
  • Support the coordination of interviews, including arranging appointments, issuing confirmations and maintaining accurate records.
  • Communicate with candidates throughout the recruitment and onboarding process, providing timely updates and responding to queries.
  • Support hiring managers and operational teams with recruitment and HR administration.
  • Maintain accurate employee and candidate records in accordance with company procedures and data protection requirements.
  • Assist with collecting and maintaining references, Right to Work evidence and other pre-employment documentation.
  • Follow up outstanding onboarding and compliance documentation to help ensure new starters are ready to commence employment.
  • Notify the relevant HR teams when onboarding and pre-employment checks have been completed.
  • Assist with maintaining HR and recruitment trackers, ensuring information is accurate and up to date.
  • Support the preparation of HR reports and management information, including recruitment activity, starter numbers, onboarding progress and vacancy status.
  • Assist with monitoring HR and recruitment compliance requirements and escalating outstanding issues where appropriate.
  • Support the preparation of organised HR records and documentation for internal reviews and audits.
  • Handle confidential employee and candidate information appropriately and in line with company policies and GDPR requirements.
  • Build positive working relationships with candidates, employees, hiring managers, operational teams, HR colleagues and external partners.
  • Provide administrative support to the Head of Resourcing and wider HR team, including preparing reports, documents and presentations.
  • Contribute to improving HR and recruitment processes by identifying opportunities to make administrative activities more efficient and effective.

What you'll learn

Course contents
  • Service Delivery: Delivers excellent customer service on a range of HR queries and requirements, providing solutions, advice and support primarily to managers. Builds managers’ expertise in HR matters, improving their ability to handle repeated situations themselves where appropriate. Uses agreed systems and processes to deliver service to customers. Takes the initiative to meet agreed individual and team KPIs in line with company policy, values, standards. Plans and organises their work, often without direct supervision, to meet commitments and KPIs.
  • Problem Solving: Uses sound questioning and active listening skills to understand requirements and establish root causes before developing HR solutions. Takes ownership through to resolution, escalating complex situations as appropriate.
  • Communication & Interpersonal: Deals effectively with customers/colleagues, using sound interpersonal skills and communicating well through a range of media eg phone, face to face, email, internet. Adapts their style to their audience. Builds trust and sound relationships with customers. Handles conflict and sensitive HR situations professionally and confidentially.
  • Teamwork: Consistently supports colleagues /collaborates within the team and HR to achieve results. Builds/maintains strong working relationships with others in the team and across HR where necessary.
  • Process Improvement: Identifies opportunities to improve HR performance and service; acts on them within the authority of their role. Supports implementation of HR changes/projects with the business.
  • Managing HR Information: Maintains required HR records as part of services delivered. Prepares reports and management information from HR data, with interpretation as required.
  • Personal Development: Keeps up to date with business changes and HR legal/policy/process changes relevant to their role. Seeks feedback and acts on it to improve their performance and overall capability.

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 4-9 / Equivalent)
  • Maths (grade 4-9 / Equivalent)
