Summary

M&M Engineering Solutions is looking for a motivated and reliable Level 2 Engineering Operative Apprentice to join its growing team in Nottingham. This is an excellent opportunity to start a career in engineering while gaining practical experience and working towards a nationally recognised qualification.

Wage

£15,392 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

As an apprentice, you will learn a range of engineering skills including the safe use of tools and equipment, basic fabrication and assembly techniques, interpreting technical information, quality checking components, and supporting day-to-day manufacturing operations. You will work alongside experienced engineers who will provide training and support throughout your apprenticeship. 
This role is ideal for someone with a keen interest in engineering, strong attention to detail, and a willingness to learn new skills in a professional and supportive workplace environment. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the preparation, assembly and manufacture of engineering components and products.
  • Learning how to safely use a range of hand tools, power tools and workshop equipment.
  • Supporting fabrication, cutting, drilling, grinding and finishing activities.
  • Reading and interpreting basic engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Preparing materials and equipment for production activities.
  • Carrying out quality checks to ensure components meet required standards.
  • Learning engineering measurement techniques and using measuring equipment accurately.
  • Supporting stock control, material handling and general workshop organisation.
  • Maintaining a clean, safe and tidy work environment in line with health and safety requirements.
  • Following company procedures, safe systems of work and engineering best practices. 
  • Working as part of a team to complete projects and meet production deadlines. 
  • Attending off-the-job training and completing college work associated with the apprenticeship programme. 
  • Developing an understanding of engineering materials, manufacturing processes and production methods.
  • Communicating effectively with supervisors, colleagues and customers where appropriate.
  • Taking responsibility for your own learning and development throughout the apprenticeship.

Training will be delivered one day per week, term time, and is based at our Engineering and Electrical centre and our Ruddington campus. Facilities are in creation to enrich the student experience, developing them with the necessary skills using industry recognised equipment to ensure the apprentice receives training closely matched to the employer’s and industry.

GCSE in:

English & maths (grade minimum 3/D or Lvl1 pass)
