This is an exciting opportunity to gain real experience while completing the Level 3 Apprenticeship. You'll rotate between our Commercial and Project Management teams, developing practical skills alongside experienced professionals. No previous construction experience is required—just enthusiasm and a willingness to learn

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

This apprenticeship is based in Long Clawson Village, Melton Mowbrary. Please ensure you research your commute to ensure you can easily travel there for the start time of 9am.

There is a small window of opportunity to apply, be shortlisted, be selected for interview and if successful, offered the apprenticeship.  The college day release starts 7th September and you have to be employed and all documentation completed before that date to be able to join the group.  Please do not delay in applying if you wish to be considered.

Key Responsibilities – Purchasing Rotation (Office Based)

  • Raise and process purchase orders for construction materials, plant and tool hire.
  • Accurately process purchase orders using QuickBooks
  • Coordinate deliveries and collections with suppliers and site teams.
  • Support transport planning and driver scheduling.
  • Track orders and resolve supplier invoice queries.
  • Maintain supplier and asset records.
  • Research products and source new suppliers.
  • Provide administrative support to the Commercial Team.

Key Responsibilities – Project Management Rotation (Office & Site Based)

  • Assist with measuring drawings and preparing quantities.
  • Compile project documentation for live projects.
  • Support Project Managers and Site Supervisors.
  • Attend site visits to monitor progress.
  • Assist with a variety of day-to-day project tasks

Entry Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 GCSEs at Grade 4 (C) or above, including English and Maths.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritise workloads
  • Good IT skills including Excel and Outlook.
  • Interest in construction and the built environment.
  • Ability to get to the office and college.

What you'll learn

Course contents
  • Apply and integrate appropriate mathematical and technical knowledge in the completion of built environment site and/or office processes to contribute to the coordination of construction projects.
  • Comply with health and safety regulations and procedures. Identify and document risks and hazards. Apply statutory and company environmental and safe working practices. Produce construction project risk assessment and method statements.
  • Communicate verbally to internal and external stakeholders using a range of techniques in line with company policies.
  • Interpret and abstract contract documentation to develop site solutions.
  • Apply digital construction processes to produce resource lists from tender and contract documentation.
  • The use of project tendering, measurement and costing systems to assist with the planning of schedules of work and to provide early warning of problems for all contract phases on site.
  • Plan, carry out and manage own work in line with management requirements, assessing tasks, scheduling work, achieving deadlines, reviewing performance and keeping records of work undertaken.
  • Apply sustainable principles and low carbon processes in order to implement site environmental solutions.
  • Use information technology. For example, for document creation, communication, and information management. Comply with GDPR and cyber security.
  • Plan and undertake continued professional development (CPD) to maintain and enhance competence in their own area of practice.
  • Communicate in written form to internal and external stakeholders using a range of techniques and reporting mechanisms in line with company policies, using construction and built environment terminology.

Training schedule

Weekly day release at Nottingham College, Basford campus, one day per week during term time only. 

College start date is Monday 7th September, no late entrants can be accepted.

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

English & maths (grade minimum 4 or C or Level 2 pass)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
