Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
As an Apprentice Producer, you’ll support the teams who create, plan and deliver audio content every day. Depending on the role, this could include helping with live shows, editing audio, preparing content for broadcast, supporting presenters and producers, researching ideas, managing guests, working on competitions, speaking to listeners, organising content, and helping teams get ready for the next show.
Apprentice Producer; KISS
This role is focused on supporting pre-recorded shows across KISS and its sub-brands.
You’ll spend time editing audio, preparing content for broadcast, listening back to output and learning the technical side of radio production. Over time, you’ll build the skills to help produce smaller shows.
Apprentice Producer; Hits Radio
This role supports the Hits Radio breakfast team, working in both a live studio environment and on post-show production.
You’ll help the team during the live show, which could include answering studio calls, briefing callers, supporting producers and helping the show run smoothly. After the show, you’ll help with editing, planning, preparing content notes, sharing audio and getting things ready for the next day.
Apprentice Producer; Specialist Brands, including Jazz FM and Planet Rock
This role supports our Specialist Brands team, working across stations such as Jazz FM and Planet Rock.
You’ll help with station events, competitions, general admin and keeping archives organised. These brands also create detailed documentary-style content, so research will be an important part of the role.
Apprentice Producer; Absolute Radio and Magic Radio
This role works across both Absolute Radio and Magic Radio, supporting key shows and wider production tasks.
You’ll help with recording and editing, managing guests, listener engagement, and assistant production work on shows such as request shows. You’ll also support with services such as EPGs and other behind-the-scenes broadcast tasks.
Apprentice Producer; Music Team
This role supports the Music Team across our stations and platforms, including Rayo and our premium stations.
You’ll help with playlist research, music scheduling and reporting, supporting weekly playlist meetings for brands such as KISS and Hits Radio. This could include looking at trends, competitor activity, Spotify charts, social media and presenter feedback to help inform music decisions.
