Summary

Laserline Dies are looking for an apprentice Die Maker to join their growing team. You will train to manufacture cutting & creasing tools used to convert folding cartons, corrugated packaging, greetings cards, flexible circuit, gaskets and many more. This is a dynamic role, ideal for somebody who is looking for an entry route into engineering.

Wage

£16,640 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work:

  • Examining customer drawings & specifications such as CAD drawings, or descriptions, and visualising product to determine materials required and machines to be used to fabricate parts
  • Computing dimensions customers tooling layout, and determining assembly method and sequence of operations, following operating procedures supplied
  • Calibrating material specified on each purchase order, measuring stock prior to starting production
  • Setting up and operating machine tools such as Auto rule processors, grinding, chamfering, linishing and laser machines
  • Verifying conformance of machined parts to specifications and working tolerances
  • Verifying dimensions, alignments, and clearances
  • Examining standard dies, tools
  • Manufacturing product to pre-agreed specifications & general descriptions for specialty tools and design of product

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 3)
