Summary

In this role you will have the opportunity to develop the practical skills and knowledge required to work as a fabrication/ welding apprentice. You will support the workshop team in producing high-quality fabricated and welded components, primarily in stainless steel, while working towards achieving a level 2 apprenticeship qualification.

Wage

£16,640 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

This is an exciting opportunity to join the team at MENA engineering as an apprentice Fabricator/Welder. In the role the key responsibilities will develop to include:

  • Assisting in the fabrication and welding components using a range of materials but primarily stainless steel.
  • Learn and apply basic welding techniques (e.g. MIG, TIG, MMA) under supervision.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Prepare materials for fabrication, including cutting, grinding and finishing.
  • Set up and use workshop tools and equipment safely.
  • Carry out basic assembly of fabricated components.
  • Inspect work to ensure it meets required quality standards.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment.
  • Follow all health & safety procedures and company policies.
  • Work effectively as part of a team and communicate with colleagues and supervisors.

Training schedule

You will be required to attend Advance II, Dudley College, DY1 4AS, 1 day per week in term time only.

  • You will receive a Engineering Operative - Fabrication & Welding Level 2 Apprenticeship qualification upon successful completion of your apprenticeship.
  • You will be assigned an assessor who will visit you in the workplace every 6-8 weeks to support you on your apprenticeship.
  • You may be required to attend Functional Skills as part of your apprenticeship.

Requirements

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade D/3/Level 1 Functional Skills)
  • Maths (grade D/3/Level 1 Functional Skills)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
