Summary

As a Material Handler Apprentice, you will build practical, hands-on experience across all aspects of warehouse operations, from receiving and checking deliveries to storing stock, picking and packing orders, preparing goods for dispatch, maintaining accurate records, and keeping the workspace clean and organised.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • You will be working towards the Supply Chain Warehouse Operative Level 2 standard.
  • To engage in formal training and education over a defined period and return to the workforce to shadow and learn from mentors and colleagues.
  • Complete exams and assignments and ensure all assignment work is completed in a timely manner and to a high standard.
  • All actions to meet the correct standard of quality in line with BS EN ISO 9001 and to ensure the environmental standard ISO14001 have been achieved.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Attend learning sessions to complete the Supply Chain Warehouse Operative Level 2 standard.
  • Prepare for and complete the End Point Assessment
  • Follow health and safety procedures and maintain a clean, safe workspace.
  • Accurately complete job records, training logs, and documentation.
  • Commitment to uphold the company values whilst working in a fast-paced environment.

  • support under instruction scheduled and unscheduled stock taking activities relevant to the organisation and product.
  • Identify and escalate problems beyond own responsibility.
  • Follow procedures in line with environmental and sustainability regulations, standards, and guidance. Segregate resources for reuse, recycling and disposal.

Requirements

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • Any other (grade 9-3 (A*-D))
  • English (grade 9-3 (A*-D))
  • Mathematics (grade 9-3 (A*-D))
  • Science (grade 9-3 (A*-D))

Other requirements

  • Knowledge of Dennis Eagle and what we do is essential
  • Interested in working in an engineering / retail environment
  • Work experience in a similar company or industry is preferred
  • Minimum of four GCSEs at grade D/3 or equivalent, including mathematics, English, and science, is essential to be considered for this position
  • Evidence of working in a team environment is desirable
  • Ability to communicate with others effectively is essential
  • Capable of documenting information and recording activities/plans is essential
  • A logical approach to problem-solving is essential
  • Good timekeeper who understands the commitment necessary to succeed is essential
  • An enthusiasm to learn new skills is essential
