Northern Skills are recruiting on behalf of Subway for a friendly, passionate, team player to join their busy team as a Sandwich Artist. The successful learner will gain a level 2 Foundation Level Apprenticeship in Catering and Hospitality.

£12,480 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

The store is open Monday to Sunday. Hours and days will be confirmed at interview, but typical shift patterns include: 7.30am - 3.00pm and 11.00am 7.00pm. A flexible approach to working hours is essential.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

As a Catering & Hospitality Apprentice, you will work within a busy Subway store, gaining hands‑on experience in food preparation, customer service, and day‑to‑day store operations. This Level 2 apprenticeship provides a strong foundation for a future career in hospitality, retail food service, or management. 

You will learn how to deliver excellent customer service, maintain food safety standards, and work effectively as part of a fast‑paced team. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Food preparation - preparing fresh ingredients, assembling sandwiches, and following Subway’s food safety standards
  • Customer service - greeting customers, taking orders, handling payments, and ensuring a positive experience
  • Store hygiene - maintaining cleanliness of the store, equipment, and food preparation areas
  • Stock management - assisting with stock rotation, deliveries, and storage
  • Teamwork - supporting colleagues to ensure smooth daily operations 
  • Compliance - following all health & safety, food hygiene, and brand standards
