We are looking for someone who is genuinely interested in people, who is happy to roll their sleeves up, and who treats the apprenticeship as a serious foundation for a long-term career in HR or talent.

Wage

£16,000 a year

£16,000 base salary + £250 for each successful placement. A car parking allowance is possible.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

 1. Internal recruitment (Bristol hiring)

  • Draft, post and refresh job adverts across LinkedIn, Total Jobs and other relevant boards for all live internal roles
  • Triage all inbound applications within 24 hours and maintain the candidate tracker in Bullhorn
  • Conduct first-stage telephone screens, take structured notes and prepare shortlists for hiring managers
  • Coordinate interview scheduling, send confirmations, prepare interview packs and gather post-interview feedback
  • Provide weekly hiring status updates to the CEO and hiring managers across 5V Tech, 5V Video and 5V Media

2. Talent acquisition support (London expansion & market mapping)

  • Build and maintain structured market maps of target companies and consultants in London for the 5V Tech London expansion
  • Draft and send approved outreach messages to mapped consultants, track responses and book follow-up conversations for the CEO
  • Keep the London talent pipeline tracker accurate, up to date and shared with the CEO every Friday

3. HR administration & people operations

  • Own the onboarding process for all new starters: offer letters, contracts, right-to-work checks, reference requests and induction scheduling
  • Maintain accurate employee records (personal details, contracts, holiday, sickness, training records) across all group entities
  • Support leaver processes, including exit administration, access removal and exit interview scheduling.
  • Help administer the company benefits programme, including pension, healthcare and any flexible benefits
  • Provide first-line support to managers and employees on HR policy and process questions, escalating appropriately
  • Help keep the employee handbook, policies and HR templates current and aligned to UK employment law changes (including the Employment Rights Act 2025)

Culture, engagement & events

  • Support the planning and delivery of internal team events, training days and the annual offsite
  • Help coordinate external mixer and networking events (including the Lisbon mixer) alongside the media team
  • Champion the 5Values employer brand on LinkedIn and other internal communication channels

Who we're looking for
Essential

  • Genuine interest in a career in HR, People or Talent Acquisition
  • Strong written and verbal communication, comfortable drafting emails, adverts and messages on behalf of the business
  • Highly organised, with the ability to track multiple workstreams and deadlines without being chased
  • Confident with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and quick to learn new systems (LinkedIn Recruiter, Bullhorn, Clay)
  • A strong work ethic, a willingness to be in the office and to learn from the team in person during the first three months
  • Meets the eligibility criteria for an English Apprenticeship (right to work, GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4/C or above, or willingness to complete Functional Skills)

What you'll learn

Course contents
  • Service Delivery: Delivers excellent customer service on a range of HR queries and requirements, providing solutions, advice and support primarily to managers. Builds managers’ expertise in HR matters, improving their ability to handle repeated situations themselves where appropriate. Uses agreed systems and processes to deliver service to customers. Takes the initiative to meet agreed individual and team KPIs in line with company policy, values, standards. Plans and organises their work, often without direct supervision, to meet commitments and KPIs.
  • Problem Solving: Uses sound questioning and active listening skills to understand requirements and establish root causes before developing HR solutions. Takes ownership through to resolution, escalating complex situations as appropriate.
  • Communication & Interpersonal: Deals effectively with customers/colleagues, using sound interpersonal skills and communicating well through a range of media eg phone, face to face, email, internet. Adapts their style to their audience. Builds trust and sound relationships with customers. Handles conflict and sensitive HR situations professionally and confidentially.
  • Teamwork: Consistently supports colleagues /collaborates within the team and HR to achieve results. Builds/maintains strong working relationships with others in the team and across HR where necessary.
  • Process Improvement: Identifies opportunities to improve HR performance and service; acts on them within the authority of their role. Supports implementation of HR changes/projects with the business.
  • Managing HR Information: Maintains required HR records as part of services delivered. Prepares reports and management information from HR data, with interpretation as required.
  • Personal Development: Keeps up to date with business changes and HR legal/policy/process changes relevant to their role. Seeks feedback and acts on it to improve their performance and overall capability.

Training schedule

  • An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation
  • At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying
  • Information Communication Technician Level 3 apprenticeship standard
  • You will also receive full training and support from the Just IT Apprenticeship team to increase your skills
  • Your training will include gaining a Level 3 Information Communication qualification

More training information

The post-holder will follow Leep Talent's Level 3 HR Support programme, awarded by CIPD. The programme runs for approximately 15 months in total and covers the following workshops, delivered remotely across 21 virtual workshop days:

  • Introductory Workshop: Preparing for Success
  • Workshop 1: Core Behaviours for People Professionals
  • Workshop 2: Business, Culture & Change in Context
  • Workshop 3: Principles of Analytics
  • Workshop 4: Essentials of People Practice

On completion, the apprentice will hold the CIPD Foundation Certificate in People Practice and will have demonstrated competence across four core areas: Service Delivery, Problem Solving, Process Improvement and Managing HR Information.

Note: Apprentices are entitled to spend 20% of their paid working hours on off-the-job training. This time will be protected in the diary, in line with statutory requirements, and is non-negotiable.

  • Exposure to recruitment, customer service or any role involving high-volume communication.

•    An interest in business, technology, media or the broader recruitment sector.

The most important aspect is that we have someone who isn’t afraid to work, who will graft to get results, is articulate, well spoken, very presentable and professional in a working environment that will manage our People and TA requirements with both proactive sourcing and administration, along with all HR matters that do not require escalation to our outsourced HR team.
