Summary

This exciting role is all about capturing the inspirational journeys of the people we support, from housing residents and nursery parents to young people and gym members. You’ll travel to our different sites, meet people from all walks of life, and create content that shares the positive impact of YMCA across our communities.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Travel to YMCA sites to identify and capture transformational stories
  • Create videos for website and social media to promote the organisation and share service user stories
  • Create print materials (banners, flyers, posters, reports etc) to promote YMCA
  • Create digital marketing assets for use on web and social media (Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin, TikTok etc)
  • Monitor analytics and insights of social media, SEO and PPC campaigns
  • Photograph YMCA events, obtaining necessary consent and adhering to GDPR guidelines
  • Write content for website, blogs and social media
  • Create email newsletters for YMCA staff and stakeholders
  • Write press releases about inspiring stories and upcoming events
  • Conduct interviews with staff, service users and members of the public around their experience with YMCA
  • Maintain confidentiality and sensitivity when working with personal stories.
  • Support the Head of Comms in planning and delivering multi-channel campaigns.
  • Support the Head of Comms in monitoring SEO and PPC campaigns.
  • Schedule social media content for the Group and YMCA services.
  • Learn and use creative software including Canva, CapCut, Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress, and Microsoft Office.
  • Assist with photography, filming, and creative writing.

Other Duties:

  • Attend meetings and events as a representative of YMCA Black Country Group.
  • To abide by YMCA BCG’s policies and procedures.
  • To promote the aims and purpose of YMCA BCG.
  • Represent YMCA Black Country Group’s values of Hope, Trust, Compassion, Inspire in all interactions.
  • Undertake any other related duties that are consistent with the job.

What you'll learn

Course contents
  • Develop or interpret briefs for external or internal stakeholders and measure delivery in-line with the specification and agreed timelines
  • Plan and coordinate a marketing activity using marketing tactics to acquire and retain one or more customer segments using available resources.
  • Contribute to the generation of innovative and creative approaches across video, images, and other formats, both online and offline, to support campaign development.
  • Use research/survey software to gather audience insight and/or evaluation to support the project.
  • Use copywriting techniques to write persuasive text/copy to meet a communications objective ensuring it is in-line with organisational brand guidelines.
  • Build and implement multi-channel campaigns across a variety of platforms, either offline or digital media.
  • Proofread marketing copy ensuring it is accurate, persuasive and is on brand.
  • Use software to design and create marketing assets to meet the technical specification.
  • Contribute to the research of external suppliers to support recommendations and procurement of marketing goods and services.
  • Organise offline and digital assets ensuring they are co-ordinated and legally compliant.
  • Use a content management system to publish text, images, and video/animated content.
  • Create and maintain spreadsheets to support marketing activities such as project/budget planning and organisation of marketing assets.
  • Use technology and software packages to support day to day activities, e.g., stakeholder communications, development of briefs, data analysis, report writing, presentations and project management.
  • Identify and use data and technologies to achieve marketing objectives.
  • Monitor and amend campaigns to meet budget requirements including time and monetary costs.
  • Review campaigns regularly to ensure effectiveness, to optimise the results.
  • Measure and evaluate campaign delivery to identify areas for improvement.
  • Use data analysis tools to record, interpret and analyse customer or campaign data.

Training schedule

The succesful apprentice will be allocated with an assessor who will visit them in the workplace once every 6-8 weeks. In addition, they will attend regular online lessons.

Requirements

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 4/C)
  • Maths (grade C/4)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
