An exciting opportunity has arisen for a KS2 Apprentice Teaching Assistant at Cavendish Primary School.

The successful candidate will be passionate about supporting our children and young people to learn and thrive, whilst having a natural ability to inspire and motivate all pupils to achieve their full potential.

Wage

£13,520 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • To complement, appreciate and support the role of teachers and other professionals by undertaking work/care/support programmes which enables access to learning in the community as part of a teacher-planned approach.
  • To support the class teacher and other senior staff on a range of teaching and learning experiences which deliver an appropriately differentiated and suitably challenging creative curriculum for all pupils whilst meeting statutory requirements.
  • Work within school policies and procedures under the direction and guidance of senior staff and within an agreed system of supervision.

  • Apply behaviour management strategies in line with organisational policy.
  • Adapt resources to support all learners.
  • Communicate with teachers to ensure clarity of the TA’s role.
  • Apply teaching strategies to deliver learning activities or interventions.
  • Build relationships with learners, teachers, other professionals and stakeholders.
  • Comply with legislation, guidance, and procedures for Prevent, safeguarding and health & safety.
  • Support the well-being and mental health of learners.
  • Observe, record, and report on learners in line with organisational procedures.
  • Apply methods of formative assessment.
  • Use up to date technology safely, to support learning.
  • Encourage safe use of technology by learners.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to support all learners (for example, scaffolding, open questioning).
  • Identify and respond to pastoral and academic behaviours in learners.
  • Provide feedback to learners.

Training schedule

  • Training will take place in the workplace with no college release days required
  • Skills coach to visit workplace every 4-6 weeks
  • All work uploaded to online portal Aptem 

Requirements

Desirable qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 4 or C)
  • Maths (grade 4 or C)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
