Summary

Country Farm Stud are looking for a reliable and committed apprentice to join their established team as a Senior Groom. The successful candidate will be given the platform and support to develop their skills and launch a career in the equine sector.

Wage

£16,640 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

Duties include all general horse care:

  • Mucking out
  • Grooming
  • Tacking up
  • Riding
  • Lunging
  • Clipping

Applicants must be willing to travel to shows, with the employer, as it may be a requirement.

Training schedule

Level 3 Senior Equine Groom Apprenticeship Standard:

  • All training will take place at the employer's premises, with the support of the employer, and will be carried out by Haddon Training
  • Apprentices without level 2 English and maths will need to achieve this level prior to completion of their Apprenticeship

  • Maths (grade 4)

Accommodation is available on-site for the successful candidate The role is for a senior apprenticeship, so previous, established, horse-handling experience is essential.

DEFRA Approved stud farm based Preston PR3 6BN Established for 20 years Country Farm Stud has grown from a small family run stud to one of the largest Sports Horse Stud Farms in the UK with the underlying reason for this growth being customer referrals and recognition of our stallions quality. As well as standing our stallions there are many other sides of the business into which it has diversified. These include semen freezing & storage along with other stallion services. It has attained DEFRA approval for EU export of semen. It is also an approved A.I centre for chilled semen and also is an educational site in conjunction with Craven College offering various courses.
