Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Support Site Managers with the day‑to‑day running of construction sites
  • Learn how to plan, coordinate and monitor site activities safely and efficiently
  • Assist with site inductions, toolbox talks and health & safety inspections
  • Help to manage subcontractors and oversee works on site
  • Learn how to read drawings, specifications and programmes
  • Monitor quality, progress and compliance with project requirements
  • Support with site records, reports and compliance documentation
  • Attend site meetings to understand how projects are delivered on site
  • Study towards a construction site management qualification alongside your role

What you'll learn

Course contents
  • Identify risk of activities and encourage all employees to demonstrate safety-conscious behaviours.
  • Assess, identify and record the environmental impact of projects.
  • Assist in the implementation of the most appropriate solutions for construction projects.
  • Use effective management principles and be able to supervise construction workers.
  • Understand overall plan for project and measure and record progress against plan.
  • Assess and report on quality standards and assist in commissioning of finished construction projects.
  • Understand financial and legal constraints and measure and record progress against budget.

Training schedule

When at work, your time will be spent gaining a broad experience across live construction sites (including Haringey, Lewisham and Croydon) and at our Head Office in Woodford Green, alongside structured learning through your apprenticeship programme.

Requirements

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English Language (grade B/6 or above)
  • Maths (grade B/6 or above)
  • minimum of 4 other subjects (grade B/6 or above)

Other in:

any subjects (grade 112 UCAS points)

After this apprenticeship

Following successful completion of the apprenticeship, you will be well‑placed to progress into a Site Manager or Assistant Site Manager role.

With further experience, there will be strong opportunities to progress to Site Manager, Senior Site Manager and beyond, with long‑term career development opportunities within Mulalley.
