Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
As an Apprentice Electrical Assembler, you’ll:
- Work alongside experienced engineers to build bespoke electrical distribution units
- Learn how to assemble components using hand tools and wiring accessories
- Install circuit protection devices such as MCBs and RCBOs
- Carry out basic wiring following schematics and technical drawings
- Use cable ties, crimps, lugs and terminals to complete builds
- Apply labels, serial numbers and safety markings to finished products
- Test completed units to ensure quality and safety standards are met
- Gradually take on more responsibility as your skills develop
You’ll be working on custom-built solutions – including multi-socket outlets, switched units and specialist distribution panels – meaning every day brings something different.

You’ll study towards a Level 2 or 3 Lean Manufacturing apprenticeship, learning valuable skills that you can use throughout your career, including:
- Understanding lean manufacturing principles and efficiency
- Improving production processes and reducing waste
- Quality control and continuous improvement techniques
- Health and safety in a manufacturing environment
You’ll spend part of your time completing training (fully funded by the employer), and the rest applying your learning in the workplace.
