Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Support the delivery of housing quality assurance activities, including audits, file reviews and service inspections
  • Assist in reviewing case files, tenancy records and support plans to ensure compliance with policies and standards
  • Identify areas of good practice and areas for improvement
  • Record audit findings accurately using QA systems and templates

What you'll learn

Course contents
  • Customer Service: Apply a range of customer service skills in order to provide a professional, accurate, timely, ethical and non-judgemental front line service which meets the needs of a diverse range of customers and stakeholders
  • Communication: Demonstrate appropriate communication skills to enable timely identification and/or resolution of issues for customers and appropriate signposting to other colleagues and/or partner agencies.
  • Collaborative working: Work collaboratively with colleagues and partners to achieve individual, team and business targets.
  • Respond to vulnerability: Use skill and judgment to understand the needs of vulnerable individuals and groups(including those with complex needs) and respond appropriately
  • Information collection and sharing: Use a variety of methods to identify, collect and communicate technical and other information in a confident and effective manner.
  • Influencing and negotiating skills: Influence and negotiate with customers, partners and suppliers.
  • Self Management: Organise and plan their own work to ensure tasks are completed and deadlines met.
  • Problem Solving: Use a problem solving and flexible approach in their day to day duties.
  • Tools and Equipment: Effective use of IT equipment and software, through administration and the appropriate use of work equipment
  • Decision making: Effective decision making in order to apply the businesses objectives and priorities.

Desirable qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade Pass)
  • Maths (grade Pass)

Other requirements

  • Willingness to undergo an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check
  • Ability to travel to different properties and service locations as required
  • Comfortable working in a variety of accommodation settings, including shared and supported housing
  • Willingness to carry out property inspections, including identifying hazards and compliance issues
  • Basic IT skills and confidence using digital systems for recording audits and reports
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately
  • Professional and respectful approach when engaging with staff, residents and stakeholders
  • Flexibility to attend office-based and on-site work as part of a hybrid role.

After this apprenticeship

The apprentice will complete a Level 3 apprenticeship (e.g. Housing & Property Management or equivalent) through structured training, mentoring and practical experience. 
They will develop competence in quality assurance processes, housing compliance, auditing, data handling, communication and service improvement, while building knowledge of housing legislation and standards to work in the housing sector.
