Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in line with company standards and licensing regulations
  • Provide a warm, professional welcome to all customers and deliver excellent customer service at all times
  • Take and process customer orders accurately using the till system
  • Handle cash and card payments responsibly and in line with company procedures
  • Maintain a clean, safe and well-stocked bar area throughout service
  • Replenish stock, rotate products and report low stock levels to management
  • Support food service where required, including serving snacks or light meals
  • Check identification and promote responsible drinking in line with Challenge 25
  • Follow all health and safety, food hygiene and allergen procedures
  • Work effectively as part of a team during busy periods, including matchdays and events
  • Manage bookings for Sport and set up rooms/halls
  • Assist with opening and closing duties, including cleaning and cashing up
  • Build positive relationships with customers to encourage repeat business
  • Contribute to upselling promotions, special offers and events
  • Complete all apprenticeship training, coursework and assessments as required

Training schedule

  • A bespoke programme of technical and vocational training
  • Functional skills in maths and English*if applicable.

This apprenticeship is delivered wholly in the workplace, the successful candidate will not need to attend any weekly sessions at the Grimsby Institute unless maths or English is required as part of the apprenticeship.

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 3/D or above)
  • Maths (grade 3/D or above)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
