Summary

The Technician Apprentice will learn to safely and efficiently operate various machinery and equipment in our manufacturing facility. This apprenticeship offers hands-on training and mentorship, preparing for a successful career as a skilled Technician.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

You will:

• Learn how to process material to the required production plan and applied standard operating procedures
• Learn and adhere to all safety regulations and policies
• Perform routine checks and minor maintenance on equipment
• Monitor production processes to ensure quality and efficiency
• Report equipment malfunctions or production issues to supervisors
• Maintain an organised work area
• Participate in required training programs
• Develop an understanding of the manufacturing process

Engineering Technician - Apprenticeship Standard:

  • Company Training Plan
  • Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing & Engineering
  • Foundation Competencies (full time at college for Year 1)
  • Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering -
  • Development Knowledge (1 day per week for 2 years at college)
  • Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering - Development Competence (workplace)
  • Level 2 Functional Skills - maths (if required)
  • Level 2 Functional Skills - English (if required)
  • End Point Assessment

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

Maths, English & Science (grade 5 or Above)

Other requirements

You will be working in a cleanroom facility, this is a highly controlled, enclosed environment designed to maintain extremely low levels of airborne contaminants like dust. Please do some research about cleanroom facilities as part of your application process.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • GCSE in maths, English, Science, Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent): maths, English and a Science/Technology subject (If you have received educational qualifications outside of the UK then we will require a Statement of Comparability to confirm your eligibility for the scheme)
  • You must have the right to work in the UK and meet the eligibility criteria for UK government-funded apprenticeships, including residency requirements (normally 3 years’ ordinary residence in the UK, EEA or a relevant territory prior to the start of the programme
  • You must not be enrolled on another UK government-funded education or training programme at the time of starting the apprenticeship
