Summary

Worcestershire County Council are offering two apprenticeship opportunities within the Worcestershire Pension Fund and are looking for enthusiastic people to join our Governance and Engagement team. You will provide a range of administrative/customer care duties providing high quality support to a team, service or the public.

£13,741 to £22,222.20, depending on your age

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • To undertake a comprehensive range of administrative duties with a regard to sensitivity and confidentiality. This may include minute taking, collating, presenting and dissemination of data/info, maintaining filing systems, organising meetings, enquiries coming into the service (signposting where necessary), production of materials and general financial duties
  • May also include providing excellent service to customers (public) including arranging and hosting activities and events
  • The ability to meet clear objectives and deadlines
  • To contribute to maintaining effective administrative support services
  • Liaison and communication with a range of internal and external contacts including members of the public. Independence and initiative will be required to react to changing priorities and work circumstances with scope for solving day to day problems
  • Coordination of activities under the guidance of the Manager/Supervisor
  • Using of spreadsheets and databases, providing reports and statistics as and when required
  • To work with business support colleagues in other teams across the Council to assist with the development and monitoring of Finance, Pension and Council systems as required by senior managers and support the implementation of corporate standards and initiatives
  • To maintain personal and professional development to meet the changing demands of the job, participate in appropriate training activities as required by the apprenticeship standards

What you'll learn

Course contents
  • Deliver expected customer service establishing customer needs, in line with the service standards and the regulatory framework.
  • Deliver pensions administrative tasks that meet required the quality standards as set out by the organisation.
  • Tailor the use of interpersonal skills and communication channels to meet the needs of stakeholders.
  • Work in a team and collaborate to support colleagues to achieve results such as meeting or exceeding service standards and organisational goals.
  • Plan, manage and prioritise own workload effectively.
  • Identify pension problems, identify the appropriate course of action and suggest or support solutions.
  • Use digital systems to carry out pensions administrative tasks and generate key metrics such as performance information.
  • Use digital systems and applications safely and securely, in accordance with data security policies.
  • Calculate member benefits accurately and apply the terms of the relevant pension scheme or plan.
  • Maintain robust and accurate schedules, records and systems of pension administrative activities.

Training schedule

The apprentices will have one day dedicated a week to their apprenticeship training. All training will be a hybrid mix between working in the office and attending online sessions via MS Teams.

Desirable qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade C - A* (4 - 9))
  • Mathematics (grade C - A* (4 - 9))

Other in:

IT Skills (grade Pass)
