Summary

As a Laboratory/Quality Apprentice, or a Multi-Skilled Apprentice, you will assist qualified Laboratory Technicians, Quality inspectors with planned, reactive, and corrective Laboratory /Quality tasks.

Apprentice salaries increase annually with experience and are reviewed each Septembe. Apprentices are also included in Parker Meggitt's bonus scheme, receiving a minimum of 2.5%, which may increase depending on overall company performance.

  • This is a learning journey to become proficient in the Testing and inspection of manufacturing of a wide range of manufacturing components and materials.
  • Encompassing Testing and inspection, while strictly adhering to Health & Safety policies and procedures.
  • Completing required documentation, both manually and digitally.

  • Follow health and safety regulations, standards, and guidance.
  • Follow procedures in line with environmental and sustainability regulations, standards, and guidance. For example, segregation of resources for reuse, recycling and disposal.
  • Comply with engineering standards and regulations. For example, British Standards (BS), International Organisation for Standardisation standards (ISO). European Norm (EN).
  • Analyse engineering and manufacturing data and information to support technical outputs. For example, read and interpret text, data, engineering drawings, work instructions, method statements, operation manuals.
  • Apply scientific, technical or engineering principles.
  • Apply problem solving techniques to solutions for identified technical problems.
  • Organise, plan and prioritise workflow and scheduling of work with stakeholders.
  • Identify, organise and use resources to complete tasks, considering cost, quality, safety, security and environmental impact.
  • Produce job specific technical outputs. For example, engineering drawings, quality control management, computer control programming, business improvement, adverse incident reports, technical investigations, equipment appraisals and specifications.

Training schedule

Alongside your daily role, you will work to complete your apprenticeship with MGTS. You will be given 20% off the job hours. This will give you the knowledge, training and external approval to do your job effectively.

The first year of apprenticeship is spent with the training provider and then day release for the following years.

Requirements

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade A* - C / 9 - 4)
  • Mathematics (grade A* - C / 9 - 5)
  • Science (grade A* - C / 9 - 4)
  • Two Other Subjects (grade A* - C / 9 - 4)

Other requirements

Be at least 16 years of age when the apprenticeship starts.

Have the right to work in the UK.

Have been a UK/EU/EAA resident for at least the past three years prior to starting the apprenticeship.

Have completed full-time education before the apprenticeship is due to start. 

For this programme, you must be able to achieve Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) and Security Check (SC) clearance.
