Summary

Reporting into the construction management team, the post holder will work in various departments of the business gaining hands on experience whilst studying for a Level 4 Construction Site Supervisor apprenticeship, one day a week at college or university.

£16,685.50 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Assisting in supervising sub contractors and day to day site activities.
  • Learning and applying health and safety and environmental regulations, guidance notes, relevant codes of practice and site-specific requirements.
  • Monitoring project progress, quality standards and compliance to necessary regulation.
  • Understanding and applying the principles of risk assessments and method statements, including Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH).
  • Assisting in tracking budgets and procurement and maintaining necessary standards.

What you'll learn

Course contents
  • Identify risk of activities and encourage all employees to demonstrate safety-conscious behaviours.
  • Assess, identify and record the environmental impact of projects.
  • Assist in the implementation of the most appropriate solutions for construction projects.
  • Use effective management principles and be able to supervise construction workers.
  • Understand overall plan for project and measure and record progress against plan.
  • Assess and report on quality standards and assist in commissioning of finished construction projects.
  • Understand financial and legal constraints and measure and record progress against budget.

Training schedule

As this apprenticeship will be both office and site based the successful applicant must hold a full driving licence and have their own transport.

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 4)
  • Maths (grade 4)
