Summary

This role involves learning how to assemble, fit and install blast machines, blast cabinet systems, hose assemblies, rubber linings, and associated industrial equipment under the guidance of experience engineer. You will support the process, help prepare components and assist with basic troubleshooting whilst developing your skills.

Wage

£14,526.20 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

Assembly & Installation:

  • Support the Assembly of blast machines, blast cabinet systems, hose assemblies, and rubber linings under supervision
  • Learn how to read engineering drawings and follow guidance to prepare and fit mechanical components
  • Assist with fitting and aligning mechanical components, including frames, panels, motors, and pneumatic systems
  • Help Install ancillary components such as conveyors, dust extraction units, and safety guards
  • Take part in applying and securing rubber linings inside blast cabinets and other equipment, learning the correct techniques for durability and protection

Hose Assembly:

  • Learn how to cut, fit, and assemble hoses for blast systems, ensuring correct pressure ratings and secure connections
  • Assist in Inspecting hose assemblies for wear, leaks, and general safety, reporting any issues to senior fitters

Customer Demonstration Support:

  • Assist in setting up blast machines, cabinet systems, and related equipment for customer demonstrations
  • Support engineers on-site to ensure equipment is correctly installed and operational during demonstrations

Quality & Testing:

  • Take part in basic functional checks under guidance to ensure equipment meets operational standards
  • Assist with leak tests, pressure checks, and simple calibration tasks once trained
  • Report any defects or issues to senior team members for correction before final inspection

Maintenance & Troubleshooting:

  • Support the team in identifying simple mechanical issues during assembly and installation
  • Assist with routine preventive maintenance and repairs as part of your training

Documentation & Compliance:

  • Help complete basic assembly records and maintain accurate documentation
  • Follow health and safety procedures, including corrective PPE usage and safe handling of industrial components

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with engineering, production, and quality teams to support timely delivery of projects
  • Share observations and learning points that may help improve the assembly process
