Summary

 As a Management Degree Apprentice, you’ll be based in our Warwick office while travelling to sites across the country to see major projects in action. You’ll study for your degree at Henley Business School while gaining hands on experience supporting the upgrades, construction and innovation that keep our network running

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • As a Management Degree Apprentice, you’ll be based in our Warwick office while travelling to sites across the country to see major projects in action
  • You’ll kick-start your career blending academic study with work-based learning
  • You'll split your time between learning out on site, working alongside experts solving real-world problems, and attending dedicated training and study days
  • Develop vital leadership skills
  • Gain exposure to project planning & development
  • Assist in preparing documentation such as reports, summaries, cost estimates or risk logs under guidance
  • Sit in on meetings with internal teams (engineering, commercial, operations, programme delivery) to understand how projects come together
  • Supporting communication and coordination across teams by preparing meeting notes, slides, diagrams or project updates
  • Help analyse system data, project information or external trends to support decision-making
  • Track progress against project timelines and identifying basic risks or issues (with support)
  • Build an understanding of how the network works, what different assets do, and how large scale infrastructure projects are developed
  • Learn about the commercial and regulatory environment that shapes decisions

What you'll learn

Course contents
  • Support the development of organisational strategies and plans. Develop and deliver operational plans; being able to set targets and KPIs, manage resources, and monitor and measure outcomes to establish operational effectiveness, efficiencies and excellence.   Produce reports that clearly present information and data, using a range of interpretation and analytical processes.  Gain wide support to deliver successful outcomes
  • Plan, organise and manage resources in order to achieve organisational goals.  Identify key outcomes, develop and implement plans and monitor progress, and provide reports as required.  Proactively identify risk and create plans for their mitigation. Able to initiate, lead and drive change within the organisation, identifying barriers/challenges and how to overcome them. Ability to use widely recognised project management tools
  • Managing budgets, controlling expenditure and production of financial reports
  • Use of customer insight and analysis of data to determine and drive customer service outcomes and improve customer relationships.  Creative approaches to developing solutions to meet customer need
  • Able to identify service/organisational improvements and opportunities for innovation and growth, using qualitative and quantitative analysis of information and data and benchmarking against others
  • Communicate clearly, effectively and regularly using oral, written and digital channels and platforms.  Use active listening and open questioning to structure conversations and discussions, and able to challenge when appropriate.  Manage and chair meetings and clearly present actions and outcomes. Ability to apply influencing and persuading skills, to the dynamics and politics of personal interactions
  • Able to articulate organisational purpose and values.  Support the creation of an inclusive, high performance work culture. Enable others to achieve by developing and supporting them through coaching and mentoring

Requirements

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 4 or above)
  • Maths (grade 4 or above)

A Level in:

three subjects (grade AAB)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.

Other requirements

Our sites are located across the UK, so you’ll need to be comfortable with travel and overnight stays. This means that you’ll need to have a driving license by the time you would be joining us (September 2026!).

You'll need to have permanent right to work in the UK for the entirety of this programme, as we are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role.

As you’ll be working with Critical National Infrastructure, you’ll also need to pass enhanced National Security Vetting, meaning you’ll need to be able to provide a 5-year UK address history. Your eligibility for certain roles may be affected by your place of birth, nationality, current or former citizenship, and any residency you hold or have held.
