Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
You will be based at our off-site manufacturing facility in Oldbury, where we produce mechanical and electrical modules for installation on LOR new-build projects, including hospitals, schools, and airports.
The pipework used to deliver water services throughout these buildings is fabricated and welded in our facility, following construction drawings and specifications. These sections are then assembled on-site by a separate installation team to form complete water piping systems.
As a Pipework Fabricator/Welder, you will learn to use both modern and traditional cutting, forming, and welding techniques to produce high-quality pipework. Your work may be delivered directly to site or supplied to other teams within the facility for installation into frames prior to delivery. You will work closely with experienced colleagues who will support your development and help you build practical skills and confidence.
Accuracy, attention to detail, and a positive attitude to learning are essential, and full training will be provided.
The safety of our workforce is our highest priority at CHtM.
