Summary

Four-year programme developing future operational leaders. Delivered with a leading university, it combines formal study and hands-on experience across brewing, packaging, quality, logistics and engineering. Three week-long study blocks each year build leadership and operational expertise.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Complete apprenticeship requirements on time, participate in performance reviews and proactively work on personal development areas.
  • Proactively promote behavioural safety, hazard spotting and hazard completion in order to ensure safe practices and site targets are delivered.
  • Deliver the KPI targets to ensure optimum performance of the department.
  • Create an environment that truly drives high performance through effective performance management and development planning.
  • Ensure effective communications with all team members and stakeholders to achieve committed performance and output targets.
  • Build strong collaboration with TPM stakeholders to ensure the correct application of principles and methodology.
  • Ensure effective participation and ownership of AM activities to achieve high levels of sustained performance, for example, through leading and participating in loss reduction teams.
  • Continuously develop the capability of team members through effective training plans and assessment processes.

  • Building and sustaining collaborative relationships to influence internal and external stakeholders
  • Presenting information, for example in staff briefings, customer meetings, management meetings
  • Managing people, for example recruiting, leading, coaching and motivating a team
  • Partnership working with local and/or regional union representation
  • Driving compliance with legal, customer and product standards on site
  • Devising, implementing and maintaining health & safety and environmental standards to achieve a harm free culture
  • Producing budget proposals; negotiating budgets with senior managers
  • Planning site based projects, for example for new capital investment, construction on site, new product lines and new equipment
  • Managing change
  • Conducting Continuous Improvement techniques within manufacturing environment
  • Problem solving/trouble shooting within manufacturing environment
  • Crisis management; agreeing, leading and implementing a site based disaster recovery plan
  • Responding to third party audits; managing relationships with audit personnel
  • F&D. Analysing food safety data, for example cooking/chilling temperatures, metal detection checks, storage and segregation
  • F&D. Responsive production planning to adjust to customer orders
  • F&D. Organoleptic testing of food and drink products
  • F&D. Promoting food safety culture

Essential qualifications

A Level in:

3 A-Levels (grade 6,6,5)

Other requirements

  • Flexibility to work 12 hour shifts (mixture of days & nights rotating)
  • The right to work in the UK for the duration of the apprenticeship.
    UK residency for at least three years by 1 September 2026.
  • Be aged 18 or over by 1 September 2026. You must be 18 or over due to nature of the business.
