Summary
Primary purpose of this role is to provide administrative support to the Accountant. The successful Applicant will gain skills in all aspects of clerical duties from filing up to producing monthly management accounts.

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
Daily banking-cashing up and balancing to the End of Day report:
- Petty cash
- Posting invoices
- Reconciling purchase ledger accounts to statements
- Filing
- Exporting nominal codes from DMS and reconciling to Excel spreadsheets
- Stock taking

What you'll learn
Course contents
- Record transactional data.
- Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues such as, reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
- Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
- Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
- Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
- Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
- Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.

Training schedule
Training will take place either Online-live or at FAR Training's premises in Askham Bryan.
Self study will form part of your training and can be undertaken at home / employer's premises but not while working on the job.

AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting Qualification that is mandated within this apprenticeship will cover:
Introduction to Bookkeeping (ITBK) – Principles of double-entry bookkeeping, ledger accounts, business transactions, the accounting equation, daybooks, recording cash and credit transactions.
Principles of Bookkeeping Controls (POBC) – Control accounts, bank reconciliation, correcting errors, identifying discrepancies, petty cash systems, the purpose and use of the trial balance.
Principles of Costing (PCTN) – Basic cost concepts, cost classification, materials/labour/overheads, unit costing, inventory methods, analysing and calculating costs for simple decision making.
The Business Environment (BESY) – Business structure and purpose, professional ethics, communication in business, internal and external stakeholders, key business functions, and the role of finance within organisations.

Essential qualifications
GCSE in:
