What you'll do at work
The business is looking for an Apprentice to train alongside their existing experienced team of engineers on all aspects of operational, maintenance engineering (mechanical) duties. As an apprentice you will study a range of programmes working towards a Level 3 Engineering Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship standard, covering a variety of skills and qualifications while earning a wage and completing invaluable practical skills in industry.
Apprentice technicians will undertake:
- Installation, testing, servicing, removal, replacement, maintenance, and repair of a range of equipment, sometimes complex, as part of planned preventative and reactive maintenance programmes.
- They may also undertake decommissioning activities when plant is being removed from service.
Candidates should be confident, keen, enthusiastic, and committed with a positive attitude to work. This is an ideal opportunity to learn all aspects of maintenance and operations engineering and achieve an advanced apprenticeship qualification, with the second largest titanium dioxide producer in the world.
Initially the first 10 months you will be based at HETA, following which you will then be based on site at Rosper Road, South Killingholme, Immingham DN40 3DZ.
There will be some working at height and in confined spaces, with PPE required when working with chemicals. This is a 24/7 Industry:

Training schedule
During this 46-month programme (42 months plus 4 months EPA), you will undertake off the job training at HETA for the first year followed by further training and specific on the job training on site provided by experienced engineering team members. You will also be supported by a dedicated mentor from VPI and assessor from HETA who will guide and support you throughout your apprenticeship. You will undertake the Engineering Maintenance Technician L3 Apprenticeship – single discipline (Mech), including an end-point assessment.
