Summary

We have a fantastic opportunity for an Accounts Apprentice to join our growing Finance and Admin team. This is an entry level role, suitable for those looking to pursue a career in accounts. The candidate must be interested in achieving AAT level 2 qualification.

Wage

£14,918.80 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

Duties include but will not limited:

  • Assisting with the setup of new customers and suppliers, including verification of their details
  • Processing sales and purchase orders, and invoices, ensuring correct authorisation and accurate coding, on an ad hoc basis
  • Creating sales invoices, and credit notes to distribute to clients ensuring accurate information
  • To respond to basic requests for information relating to the Finance function of the business
  • Responding to emails received within various shared inboxes that have been assigned
  • Updating the internal CRM System, accounting software and internal communication software
  • Answering queries from suppliers, customers, and colleagues face to face and on the phone
  • Other general administrative duties such as stock checks, filing and record keeping e.g. written delivery notes scanned to internal and external systems and using various systems to update logs

What you'll learn

Course contents
  • Record transactional data.
  • Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues such as, reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
  • Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
  • Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
  • Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
  • Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 5/B+)
  • Maths (grade 5/B+)
