Summary

Oasis Leesbrook Primary School are seeking a new Teaching Assistant apprentice to join their team. You will be based in a classroom environment with the young learners. You will help support the young learners within their lessons and also be involved in planning lessons.

Wage

£13,741 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Raise standards of achievement for all pupils
  • Encourage pupils to become more independent learners
  • Provide support for their emotional, social, and physical welfare
  • Support the inclusion of pupils in all aspects of school life
  • Work under the direction of the line manager, class teachers, and other staff to support the learning of whole classes, selected groups or individuals as instructed
  • Study relevant qualifications while you earn
  • Supervising class activities
  • Assisting with young people’s learning experience
  • Helping students who might need extra support
  • Attending relevant academy meetings as required
  • Respecting confidentiality at all times
  • Participating in the performance and development review process, taking personal responsibility for identification of learning, development and training opportunities in discussion with line manager
  • Promote positive pupil behaviour in line with academy policies and help keep pupils on task
  • Interact with, and support pupils, according to individual needs and skills
  • To support learning by arranging/providing resources for lessons/activities under the direction of the teacher
  • Demonstrate a positive commitment to equality and diversity

  • Use up to date technology safely, to support learning.
  • Encourage safe use of technology by learners.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to support all learners (for example, scaffolding, open questioning).

  • Provide feedback to learners.

Training schedule

  • 16 months expected duration to complete, working towards your Teaching Assistant SEND Level 3 Apprenticeship. (All learning is delivered online/ remote).

Training Provider: LMP Education (rated 1st best UK training provider)

Requirements

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade A*-C/9-4 or Level 2 equivalent)
  • Maths (grade A*-C/9-4 or Level 2 equivalent)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.

Other requirements

All apprentices require an Enhanced DBS check before the commencement of the role due to working with children. 

Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that's part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week). 

This vacancy may close earlier than stated if the right candidate is appointed.
