Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

Twiflex is a global leader in innovative braking solutions designed to provide years of reliable performance. Twiflex specialises in the design, manufacture and supply of advanced braking technologies for industry. Twiflex offers the largest range of pneumatically, hydraulically and mechanically applied industrial disc brake callipers in the world!

This is an ideal opportunity to start your career in Engineering for a global leader in power transmission!

As a Mechanical Assembler/Fitter apprentice, you will learn all the skills you need to become fully qualified and able to work confidently across the whole production area.

To help you build these skills, you will spend time in different parts of the workshop, working alongside experienced Assemblers and Fitters. They will show you how each process works so you can learn hands-on and understand the full job.

What the Job Involves:

Working from build boards – You will check which jobs need doing next and pick out the correct parts for each assembly.

Using drawings and instructions – Engineering drawings and written instructions will guide you through each step of the build. You’ll learn how to follow them to carry out the assembly safely and correctly.

Checking parts – You will make sure all the parts are present and correct. If anything is missing or damaged, you will then report it to your supervisor or the Quality Assurance team.

Assembling the products – You will put the units together using tools such as air tools and spanners, following the set procedures.

Testing your work – Once the product is built, you will test it to make sure it meets the customer’s requirements.

Recording results – After testing, you will log the results and pass them to Quality Assurance.

You will be fully trained and achieve a Level 3 Engineering Fitter qualification. This is a great opportunity with generous pay.

Staff benefits include: 25 days holiday, free parking, a bonus scheme payable in March.

College attendance will be at the Bedford College Campus one day a week, which will begin in September 2026. However, you will begin the apprenticeship training as soon as you begin working with the employer.
