Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Following site health & safety policies and procedures at all times and assist the Site Engineer to implement and enforce all relevant health & safety procedures, risk assessments, and compliance with the company’s SHEQ systems
  • Supporting execution of work activities on site, ensuring they conform to programme, technical specification, and quality standards
  • Contributing to the measurement and reporting of site productivity, performance, and operational efficiency
  • Assisting in continuous improvement initiatives to boost site performance and operational effectiveness
  • Maintain and update the site diary and records, ensuring accurate documentation of day-to-day site activities
  • Support site operations to maximise effectiveness — helping manage resources, materials, and labour in line with project programme and budget constraints
  • Participate in engineering tasks: setting out, measuring, verifying works, and ensuring dimensional control
  • Aid the production of Technical Queries (TQs) under direction of the Senior Engineer or Site Agent
  • Assist in preparing, monitoring, and managing Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) to ensure deliverables meet contract specifications and standards; help prevent remedial work
  • Help collate and prepare As-Built information, making sure that site changes are properly documented
  • Collaborate with other project team members — engineers, subcontractors, managers — to coordinate work and ensure quality
  • Reflect on your learning journey, capture lessons learned and suggest improvements or efficiencies in working practices
