Summary

The purpose of this role is to assist our team of audiovisual installation and service engineers in their day to day work, installing and maintaining AV equipment across the UK. You will be required to install AV equipment as per installation instructions, alongside our other AV engineers. 

Wage

£15,704 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Learning about and following instructions on how to use tools, ladders, access equipment such as scissor lifts and mobile scaffold towers
  • Learning about and implementing wiring and installation techniques
  • Assisting senior engineers in various working environments
  • Learning about and following system designs issued by our AV designers
  • Following instructions and Health & Safety procedures at all times
  • Learning how to test AV equipment, both installed and in the warehouse
  • Learning how to make up cables with connectors such as RJ45, RCA/phono, XLR, IEC, Phoenix and various others and terminating to a high

What you'll learn

  • Operate a video camera and vision mixer
  • Integrate a projector and/or display as part of an audiovisual presentation
  • Audio mixing; loudness, timbre, spatialisation, and channel management
  • Apply and problem solve video signal flow for live production
  • Operate and program lighting control software/hardware
  • Root cause analysis & problem solving
  • Collate, compare, and synthesise information from various sources
  • Work collaboratively; Building and maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders (such as performers, public speakers, presenters, clients and event organisers)
  • Communicate technical concepts with clarity in person and in writing to end users of all skill levels and seniority
  • Install, test, and commission relevant hardware
  • Configure and manage remote participation systems
  • Edit audio and video content
  • Prepare, maintain, and manipulate audio and video assets through post-production
  • Create digital assets for video workflows
  • Manual camera operating for a range of contemporary S35mm digital cameras
  • Audio capture
  • Deliver virtual event technical operations
  • Clearly advise and guide event participants
  • Devise a learning program intended to cover a particular device/system
  • Identify personal training and professional development needs via research and investigation
  • Organise appropriate personal professional development activities to develop and enhance own role and skills

  • Complete risk assessment documentation
  • Accurately assesses level of risk to health and safety of themselves and others
  • Test and maintain audiovisual equipment, cables, and connectors: substitute items where necessary

Training schedule

This role will include a weekly day release which will be delivered online

Requirements

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

Maths & English (grade 4 or above)

A Level in:

any subject (grade Pass)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.

  • A full UK driving licence is preferred but not essential
