Summary

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic IT Support Apprentice to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to start their career in IT, providing first-line support to our clients. Full training will be provided, along with a Microsoft development programme to enhance your skills and knowledge.

Wage

£15,704 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Provide first-line technical support to clients via telephone, email, and remote assistance tools
  • Respond to and resolve IT support requests in a timely and professional manner
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues on various devices including desktops, laptops, and mobile devices
  • Assist with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of IT equipment and systems
  • Document and track support requests and resolutions using our ticketing system
  • Escalate complex issues to higher-level support when necessary
  • Maintain a high level of customer service, ensuring clients are kept informed of progress and resolution timescales
  • Participate in training sessions and complete the Microsoft development programme to improve technical skills and knowledge

What you'll learn

Course contents
  • Use a range of questioning skills, including listening and responding in a way that builds rapport, determines customer needs and expectations and achieves positive engagement and delivery.
  • Depending on your job role and work environment: Use appropriate verbal and non-verbal communication skills, along with summarising language during face-to-face communications; and/or
  • Depending on your job role and work environment: Use appropriate communication skills, along with reinforcement techniques (to confirm understanding) during non-facing customer interactions.
  • Depending on your job role and work environment: Use an appropriate ‘tone of voice’ in all communications, including written and digital, that reflect the organisation’s brand.
  • Provide clear explanations and offer options in order to help customers make choices that are mutually beneficial to both the customer and your organisation.
  • Be able to organise yourself, prioritise your own workload/activity and work to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrate patience and calmness.
  • Show you understand the customer’s point of view.
  • Use appropriate sign-posting or resolution to meet your customers needs and manage expectations.
  • Maintain informative communication during service recovery.

Training schedule

You will receive a training plan that is specific to your qualification, with sessions that are delivered through a combination of face-to-face and remote.

Additional training for functional skills in English and maths will be undertaken if needed.

You will receive monthly visits from your assigned Learning and Development Specialist, who will set you work, monitor your development and wellbeing, and discuss training sessions. They will also prepare you for your End Point Assessment to gain your Customer Service Apprenticeship qualification.

More training information

There is also a five-day team-building residential trip that is held in the spring of each year offered to all apprentices on the programme.

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade A*-C/ 4-9)
  • Maths (grade A*-C/ 4-9)
