Working in a fast pace / customer facing environment, meeting and greeting customers and booking their required activities, answering queries on the phone, taking food orders and serving the food to customers, and some kitchen food prep duties if required.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

You will make our customers feel valued by creating a fun environment for them to enjoy. It's up to us to make sure our customers leave feeling happy, having had a really positive experience. So long as you can provide a warm, helpful manner to everyone you meet, we can teach you the ins and outs of working as part of our busy team. 
 
Your roles and responsibilities will include;

Front of house:

  • Giving a warm welcome to our customers and make them feel at home
  • Serve customers efficiently at the till – understanding their needs
  • Serve amazing food and drinks to high standards and make sure our customers have everything they need
  • Maintain, hand over and close down a clean, safe, and fully operational counter area
  • Follow all fire safety, health and safety, food hygiene and cafe security measures

Back of house:

  • Assist kitchen staff to prepare and assemble food where necessary 
  • Stock taking and putting away deliveries, reporting low stock levels to management

  • Deal with or escalate issues that impact service and customer experience, and implement any instructions given by supervisor.
  • Use professional methods of communication that are tailored to different situations, and individual and team needs.
  • Manages own time and workload, prioritising tasks.
  • Maintain and rotate stock according to life cycle and business processes.
  • Ensure equipment and technology faults and maintenance issues are reported promptly.

  • Uses feedback to improve own performance.
  • Reduces the waste of resources, taking sustainability into account, in line with business expectations.

Training schedule

In-house training plus the candidate will follow a Level 2 Apprenticeship programme and study towards a Level 2 Food and Beverage Team Member. This training will be structured and delivered by Cheshire College – South & West.

If the candidate does not hold GCSE grades A-C (9-4) or equivalent, they will be required to complete a Level 2 Functional Skill in the relevant subject.

  • Maths (grade C/4)
