Summary

The IT Apprentice will work within the Business Information Services function, supporting a wide range of IT services and infrastructure. This role offers hands-on experience across Service Desk operations, hardware/software support, Data & Analytics, Cyber Security and IT project coordination.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

Service Desk Support: (IT Operations, Cyber & Data/Analytics)

  • Provide technical support to internal users across multiple regions and languages.
  • Log, triage, and resolve incidents and service requests using ITSM tools (e.g., BMC Helix).
  • Escalate complex issues to second-line support teams.
  • Assist in maintaining knowledge base articles and FAQs.

Infrastructure & Applications: (IT Operations, Cyber & Data/Analytics)

  • Support hardware provisioning, setup, and troubleshooting (laptops, desktops, mobile devices).
  • Assist with software installations, configurations, updates, and license management.
  • Participate in routine maintenance tasks such as patching, backups and reporting.
  • Help monitor operational performance and report anomalies.

Project Support:                  

  • Contribute to IT projects including system upgrades, migrations, and new technology rollouts.
  • Document processes and assist in user training and communications.
  • Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to support project delivery.

What you'll learn

  • communicate effectively through a variety of different channels using terminology appropriate to the audience
  • use digital resources to extend own knowledge and skills relevant to their role
  • risk assess the organisational impact of decisions that they take
  • use digital systems to identify productivity and performance improvements
  • use digital technologies to operate effectively as part of a team, and with other stakeholders, enabling sharing of information and best practice
  • maintain system security in line with organisational policies.

Requirements

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

5 GCSE's including English and Maths (grade (A*-C/9-4 or equivalent))

Desirable qualifications

Other in:
