Summary

Join MailBakes as a Packaging Apprentice and complete a Level 2 Supply Chain Warehouse Operative apprenticeship. You’ll package orders, support dispatch, maintain a clean workspace, assist with stock and general warehouse duties, and gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced food production environment.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Package cake orders accurately and to company standards
  • Prepare, label, and organise orders for daily dispatch
  • Keep packaging and warehouse areas clean and safe
  • Work collaboratively to meet daily production targets
  • Support stock checks, replenishment, and movement of materials
  • Follow all food safety and hygiene procedures
  • Assist with general warehouse tasks
  • Take part in apprenticeship training and assessments

  • Communicate in writing with others, for example internal and external customers, colleagues and managers.
  • Load and unload products, considering the product that is to be moved and its current and planned destination.
  • Use tools and equipment to aid in product handling.
  • Use information technology and digital systems. Comply with GDPR and cyber security.
  • Locate and use operational information, electronic or paper based, required to fulfil contractual requirements.
  • Select, prepare, and use packaging materials that reduce waste and mitigate environmental impacts.
  • support under instruction scheduled and unscheduled stock taking activities relevant to the organisation and product.
  • Identify and escalate problems beyond own responsibility.
  • Follow procedures in line with environmental and sustainability regulations, standards, and guidance. Segregate resources for reuse, recycling and disposal.

Training schedule

Training takes place mainly in the workplace and is supported by online learning, including e-learning modules, virtual classes, and one-to-one sessions with a Skills Coach. You won’t need to travel to college. Training is ongoing throughout the apprenticeship, with regular online learning and monthly progress reviews.

More training information

The apprenticeship training is delivered by Total Training Provision through a mix of workplace learning, online classes, and one-to-one coaching. You’ll complete e-learning modules, monthly progress reviews, and employer-led activities to build your skills in warehousing and dispatch. Training is structured around practical tasks, self-study, and ongoing support, leading to an End-Point Assessment that includes a workplace observation and portfolio-based interview.
