Summary

We are looking for an apprentice Teaching Assistant who is flexible and happy to work in different settings, including supporting children at lunchtime where necessary. The role will be either class based or in our special sunshine provision for children who require particular support throughout the day.

Wage

£12,760 a year

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

You will be assisting our teaching staff as required with learning resources, interventions and supporting children with additional needs to help them thrive in the classroom.

All our Teaching Assistant roles involve flexibility and may involve working in a class-based environment or with SEN / SEMH children, either in class or in our SEN Classroom. 

We would like to appoint someone who:

  • Is enthusiastic, confident and able to show initiative
  • Is an effective communicator with pupils and staff
  • Possesses good literacy and numeracy skills
  • Is able to deal with a child’s medical, physical, emotional and behavioural needs
  • Has a good understanding of the barriers to learning that children can have and how to overcome them
  • An excellent team player

  • Apply methods of formative assessment.
  • Use up to date technology safely, to support learning.
  • Encourage safe use of technology by learners.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to support all learners (for example, scaffolding, open questioning).
  • Identify and respond to pastoral and academic behaviours in learners.
  • Provide feedback to learners.

Requirements

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 9-4 (or A*-C))
  • Maths (grade 9-4 (or A*-C))

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
