  • Work in partnership with other colleagues, parents and/or carers or other professionals to meet the individual needs of each child in line with company policies and procedures
  • Use play to support children to understand and encourage healthy life choices
  • To support  & deliver learning –to  work with individuals or small groups of pupils in the classroom under the direct supervision of teaching/senior staff and provide feedback to the teacher
  • To provide general support to the teacher in the management of pupils and the classroom, to include some general class admin tasks
  • Behaviour/Guidance/Support – to support pupils to understand instructions, support independent learning and inclusion of all pupils
  • Identify issues of safeguarding and child protection, ensuring that the welfare and safety of children is promoted and safeguarded and to report any child protection concerns to the designated safeguarding lead
  • Curriculum Resource Support – under the direction/instruction of teaching/senior staff to provide general support to staff and pupils, including preparation, and routine maintenance of resources/equipment
  • To assist with the supervision of children at arrival/departure and at other designated times in the school environment,
  • To undertake activities necessary to meet the physical, emotional and educational needs of individuals and groups of children
  • To support pupil hygiene, where required
  • To assist the teacher in the organisation of activities and materials
  • To participate in wider school life as a team member
  • To supervise children during lunch time

Outdoor learning is a key part of EYFS education so be prepared to be outside in all weathers.

This apprenticeship is delivered as a day release at our Havering Campus, you will be required to attend a full-day at college once a week.

Apprentices must successfully complete a Level 3 Early Years Educator qualification. Please refer to the DfE list of approved EYE qualifications:

Apprentices must successfully complete the Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid. (RQF) or Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid (RQF) Or complete a first aid course delivered by one of the following types of organisations as per the EYFS requirements. Voluntary aid society, member of trade body with an approval and monitoring system, or acknowledged by the Health and Safety Executive

Apprentices without Level 2 English and maths will need to achieve this level prior to taking their end point assessment.  For those with an education, health and care plan or a legacy statement, the apprenticeships English and maths minimum requirements are Entry Level 3, and the British Sign Language qualification is an alternative to English qualifications for apprentices for whom this is their primary language.
