You will be working in all areas of the nursery and through the qualification become confident to plan and carry out activities with the children, complete relevant paperwork and communicate well with team members and families.

Key person role means you will be working closely with children ensuring they are safe, happy and confident throughout the day.

Example duties - welcoming children, planning activities, completing records as appropriate, speaking with parents/guardians as required, supervising activities, assisting with hygiene requirements and mealtimes.

You will participate in planning activities for the children and tracking their development through observations.

You will complete the qualification mainly on site with activity days at the college.

You will be seen regularly by an assessor who will support you to complete the qualification as well as being supported by team members and an onsite mentor.

The expectation is that you will work full time on a permanent basis once the qualification is completed.

Things to consider

We offer employees complimentary gym membership. 

We suggest a trial time before you commit so have a go and see if you like it – working with children is not always just playing – there is also some crying, dirty nappies and snotty faces but if you can cope with that it is also very rewarding.

You will need to complete a DBS check to work in a childcare setting, you will be supported to complete this. 

The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £4.30 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
The minimum wage rates are £6.45 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.70 for anyone aged 21 and over.
Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

We are a small, friendly team in an expanding premises.  We work with children aged 3 months to school age – each have a separate area so activities and support are age appropriate.
