Each working day will begin by meeting your team leader for a brief and loading up the necessary tools and materials for the tasks.

After travelling to the work site your tasks will be varied and as per the team leader's instruction.

Our Arb apprenticeship will aim to offer predominantly Arb based experience, including:

  • Tree ground work
  • Operating chippers safely
  • Working around and with chainsaws
  • Some rope work and progressing onto aerial rescue techniques
  • Working towards climbing techniques

The day will end back at the yard in time to unload and clean up.

On occasion, when the work demands it, you may also work in landscaping teams, in which case will include:

  • Strimming
  • Mowing
  • Preparing mortar for paving
  • Sleeper work
  • Reading drawings and designs
  • Pond work
  • Tree work
  • Tree and shrub planting

GCSE Grade C/4 or above in Maths and English or equivalent.

Future prospects

Successful apprentices often go onto a career in Arboriculture with us. They climb the ranks up to Lead Climber and often then to Supervisor or Contract Manager. Longer term prospects include Department Manager roles.

Things to consider

As public transport is very limited near the Dalwood site, you must have your own transport to get to and from work.
